I'm listening to Newsnight and they're interviewing the guy that did the voice for Kermit the frog about it... at least it sound like they are.

Politician's wet dream.
The US/UK get to keep splashing money they don't have.
Germany and France get to pretend there's heavier regulation.
The mercantilists (India/China) get the green light to buy up the unsold bits of the West cheap.
Everybody wins.

Er, yeah, sterling analysis there SWL.
Any thoughts about how things will/might change as a result?

Feck knows.
But I see Sarkozy had to do some major league ass-kissing. Money talks and Tibet's stuffed.
"Feng Zhongping, chief of European studies at the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, said after the latest twists and turns, France would have realized that disrespecting China's core interests is bound to hurt France's interests.
"We hope the French government learns a lesson from it."

So the fact that China's welcomed to the top table doesn't mean anything? Possibly the most important sea-change type thingy that's happened today?

Apart from the time they actually hosted the thing 4 years ago you mean?
If there's anything specifically important about China this time it's that they now know they have the West by the short and curlies and can start throwing their weight about.
Won't be the last time either.

From the G20 thing I learnt a new word - 'kettling'. Apparently it means rounding up anyone with a dog on a string and straggly hair, and keeping them in one spot until they get bored and agree to go home.

Pfft, that's not new. Replace straggly dog on a string types with football fans, ramp up the police over-reactions and you've got standard matchday policing.

actually you can delete " with a dog on a string and straggly hair" - I think just anyone unfortunate enough to be in the area is the criteria.

'Kettling' is also known as 'turning a protest into a riot by treating it like one'.
