Hi everybodysmiley - smiley This is my first time for using h2g2. I just wanted to ask a question. I like science and I wanted to know if anybody knows of any good science websites because I usually look out for good ones when I am on the internet. Also if anybody could guide me around the place as well thankyou.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

I think you'll find a fair few people round here who are really quite knowledible and interested in science; I've known practising medical doctors smiley - doctor nurses smiley - nurse and several just plain boring scientist types like me myself smiley - scientistsmiley - geek (NOt to mention far far too many geeky computer sciency type people, err kinda like me also I guess smiley - geeksmiley - blush ) smiley - zen
So, which bits of science in particular?: fraid I'm not much use on the mind bogglingly complicated bits of physics and maths but try to do my best at biology seeing as how I studied it for years.... Mind I get to have fun now messing about with computers and breaking them instead smiley - dohsmiley - geeksmiley - scientistsmiley - zoomsmiley - boing

I like science in general but chemistry is my favourite part. I do like biology especially human biology because my mum is a doctor so I have grown up through listening to medical stuff.

Has anybody heard of the magazine called Scientific American and if so what do you think of it.

I have never read Scientific American.

On the internet, I suppose a good place to start for science would be the website for "Science" and "Nature", which are the big, almost populist science journals. Much of the stuff there is not available without a subscription sadly.

Also, the NASA website almost always has something interesting on it.

Are you looking for somewhere to read about science, or somewhere to discuss it?

Hi Jhawkesby

Scientific American (http://www.sciam.com/) is a good read as is New Scientist (http://www.newscientist.com/home.ns). Scientific american has a weekly podcast and if you like podcasts then ABC Radio National (Australian broadcaster) has the Science Show (http://www.abc.net.au/rn/scienceshow/) which I find interesting most weeks.

NASA has lots going on all the time on their site - http://www.nasa.gov/ .

You say you like chemistry. I know there are others on here that will know more than me on that subject but here is a site I like - http://scienceworld.wolfram.com/chemistry/ . Also here is astronomy, maths and physics.
