I'm with you guys...but I think you'll find that Tom is still with us!
Sadly though, Mozart has gone; as Tom conceded, "It is sobering to consider that when Mozart was my age he had already been dead for a year."

I used to have one of his recordings on old reel-to-reel tape from my parents. There's quite a few people on here that like him and it's surprising (to me anyway) that he seems to still be finding new fans.

I love Tom Lehrer and can confirm that he is still with us.
I heard an interview with him on the ABC back in July'

Did you know that some of his songs were banned in Australia years ago - and one of his concerts (I think in Adelaide) caused quite a furor.
Hayayfi, if you get a chance, you should listen to The Music Show on Radio National - the interviewer/host is composer Andrew Ford and does he ever know his chops! Every sort of music you can imagine (though not nuch current pop) from classical to folk to electronic to rap. It is a joy to listen to a man who is intelligent, respectful and erudite about his sublect. Highly recommended
When asked why he doesn't write anymore Lehrer said "Things aren't as funny any more Andrew, I don't know how to put this. I get angry now, like this whole business that's going on now, it makes me angry, it doesn't make me want to laugh much."
It's a terrific interview and was done on the occasion of the release of that 3 CD set that you have just got Hayayfi

I know what he means most of today's things make me either angry or want to cry which is why I am on the hunt for comedy to brighten my day

I've been a fan since 1960. I find myself singing snatches of various things even now.I think there's another CD. Will have a look when I get home
