David Cameron's Green Credentials
McKay The Disorganised Posted Apr 29, 2006
Well - you said this - "I think it's the curse of an opposition that has no credible policies except pointing at the PM and saying 'he's a bit rubbish' whilst all the time knowing that he is going to be replaced by before the next election, thus rendering their entire 'policy' redundant."
Which kind of implies that Labour have something better to offer.
Though they are also saying that Brown is rubbish, Charles Clarke is rubbish, Patricia Hewitt is useless, Jack Straw is a glove puppet for Tony Blair, Lord Falconer is rubbish, John Prescott is rubbish, and Ruth Kelly is rubbish.

No, read what it says, not what you'd like it to say. It says that Tory policy at the moment depends on Blair being in office.
It doesn't say anything about the alternatives that the Labour Party has to offer at all.

Actually I think Cameron has rather neatly out-Blaired Blair. He's stolen a piece of what would normally be safe Labour territory. Anything Blair says on the environment now will be seen as a reaction to Cameron's initative.
Blair is forced to fight on the ground he usurped from the Tories, Law and Order, National Defense, and The Economy. And there's been bad headlines on all of them this week - not mention Health and Education as well.

Excellent politicians answer to the point - ie dance around it.
Remind me how the economy is worse now than when Norman Lamont said interest rates were going up form the *10%* they were to 15%?
Try ansewring the question this time. I *want* to hear the answer.

Oh *excellent*! Someone who doesn't understand the hear/read dichotomy on websites.
You get two rounds of for your perspicacity, young man.
And possibly a slow hand-clap.

Your question is delightfully phrased to ask me to defend the indefensible - Sideburns was not a good chancellor - however HE IS NOT CURRENTLY IN THE CONSERVATIVE SHADOW CABINET. He will not become chancellor, though even if he did he would be struggling to do worse than Brown. (Incidently I thought this conversation was about green credentials.)
Last week we saw what a shambles Brown's much vaunted tax-credit system is. He has consistently set 'rules' then changed them when it became obvious that he was not going to meet them. He has increased borrowing during a period of econmic growth, and reduced the national competitiveness against our econmic partners and rivals. Which isn't just my opinion. The Office of National Statistics showed that GDP growth for 2005 was 1.8%, the lowest since 1992, which means that tax revenues will fall and make it even more difficult for the Chancellor to balance the books - without further drastic spending cuts or even higher tax levies.

No indeed, the badger will not be chancellor again.
But one of his chief advisors and bag carriers would be prime minister.
Would that be Brown or Cameron? Let me think...
As to the Green credentials, well, I didn't put post 23 up, which quite obviously widens the discussion.
In fact, I did nothing other than draw attention to Camerons rather sad Green Credentials vis a vis his choice of photo op (I didn't even mention his Lexus, one of the biggest polluters on the road).
I didn't mention how *good* anybody eleses where (which would be pointless. Outside of the Greens, they are all pathetic), just how *bad* his are and how ungainly the stance looks in his instance.

my favorite quote from the article:
"He added that being green should not be seen as being all gloom and doom, or about making personal sacrifices."
Sure it's not gloom and doom, but um, yeah, personal sacrifices? Hello? Isn't that what standing up for something involves? That comment is the most telling of all. The man doesn't beleive in making personal *sacrifices*!
another brilliant quote:
"e had not been able to find a bag or pannier large enough to take his papers with him."
He wants to be/thinks he's qualified to be PM of the UK, and he can't solve this little problem!?!? WOW.

I did laugh at his comment about taking papers out of their heavy, lead lined boxes & carrying them in his backpack - probably just as secure!
His next step should be to attach a little trailer to his bike, to carry all these extras.
