>>Face it mate. You will always lose out in public sympathy when it comes to the payroll battle with doctors and nurses.

Yes, I know, we come somewhere between paedophiles and politicians in the popularity stakes. A thank you just once in a while would be nice though smiley - sadface

The 37½ hours per week thing is a part of the 'Agenda for Change' staff restructuring thing. The idea is to put all staff (except doctors) on to a single national pay-scale based upon all manner of factors such as training, experience, patient contact, oh God it goes on for pages and pages and pages.

Interestingly though in the first draft of the scheme, accountants (ie people like me) were going to have their pay cut from c£30,000 to something more like £20,000. Now that *would* have been interesting from a recruitment and retention point of view smiley - laugh

The Agenda for Change is a funny old thing.

It's been interesting seeing the management trying tio sneak it through as 'WTD' and saying they have no option. smiley - laugh

As an NHS worker, I've been subject to Agenda for Change. "Nobody will suffer, some will be much better off' they said. For my post they snuck in a pay drop concealed by increased London weighting.
Many of my department appealled to be upgraded & succeeded. I can see some sense in the excercise, but it's generated tons of paperwork & I doubt that anyone will really be much better off.

Which is why my wife's entire department have refused to accept the new shift patterns that are part of agenda for change.

I work in the UK for a French company. They are very keen on the WTD.

So keen they are shifting all possible work to India - where there are no such rules.

The services already moved have been the result of endless complaints - never mind they're cheaper than you.

Fortunately I work mainly on government and nhs systems - which (currently) cannot be moved to India, China, or Sao Paulo.
