Visiting Hortus Bulborum
Alfredo Started conversation Apr 25, 2004
Today - April 25 in 2004 - I visited "Hortus Bulborum" in Limmen (20 kilometers from Amsterdam). http://www.hortus-bulborum.nl/
It was a nice place, packed with historical tulips, hyacinths and daffodils.
I went there especially for the antique tulips, because they were so important to the inhabitants of 17th century Haarlem (close to Amsterdam) where most of my ancestors appear to have lived. "Tulipmania"
At one moment, I sat on my knees and looked at a tulip with the name;
"Lac van Ryn" from 1620.
I licked one of my fingers, hold it against the pollen (pistil) of the Lac van Ryn tulip and put some of it at my tongue. No one noticed.
As if April 25 in 2004 melted with the year 1620
