Kew's so Kewl in May
MMF - Keeper of Mustelids, with added P.M.A., is now in a relationship. Started conversation May 3, 2008
The day was warm and so I decided to 'Seize the day'. I just hoped it panned out better than yesterday, which was meant to be a day out with Mum followed by a visit to the Cinema, but she wasn't well enough. I decided, after reading B'Elana's write up of her Sunday trip with Gnomon to the V and A, I'd see it myself, except it finished last weekend. Never mind... Undaunted I chose the Silver Gallery (always worth a nose... I silver, yet don't like gold! ) and then see the musical instruments. I found the silver Gallery no problem... and retook some photos I'd l'lost' a number of which correlate to an entry I am writing slowly on Ramsgate and it's history... then onto the musical instruments gallery... Except the gallery that links it was closed for refurbishment, or something... Last time the actual gallery itself was closed... I will get to see it. I did have a good day, but arrived home with a then realised I hadn't eaten for 27 hours! I must stop doing that!
Anyway, today was going to be an improvement on that! Wasn't it? The first thing that happened was my Optician said that my extortianally expensive glasses were ready for collec tion. This was good news, as I'd be able to see again, but was bad news because I wanted to get to Kew Gardens while the light was good for photography. As I got ready I printed off a list of entries I submit photos to, made my sandwiches, and headed into town. Imagine my dismay when I found the glasses were wrong. I could read again! and the mid-distance was good, so I could read indicator boards, but distance was blurred, so I couldn't tell if it was a or a fire-engine... So I had a short mini eye-test, and yes, they were wrong. They'd transposed a figure, so back they are going. Time to head for Kew Gardens... Except there is no Underground or Overground rail service this weekend, so there are two replacement services to add to the chaos! On top of that, Kew Gardens have their special Woodland Wonders on this weekend...

it was very good last year, but the numbers do make photography awkward... On top of that I'd left my list of entries at home! I had remembered some of them but, due to my plans having gone awry. I could only cover part of Kew Gardens, and only managed to take some of the anticipated photos. Then it started to rain, so three entries' photos are spoilt, and two entries' photos are out of focus. All in all it wasn't a bad day, and I'll return tomorrow to attempt to take the photos that I failed to take today .
And you'll never believe what happened right at the end, as I was leaving?
Just by the lake I saw a person who I knew but, as I mentioned with my eyesight not being so good, I decided not to myself so didn't approach the person, but I did get in contact when I got home, and yes... I had almost bumped into Agapanthus in Kew gardens.., Now how strange is that?
Has any other HooTooer Accidently bumped into another HooTooer purely by chance? Or is this a HooToo first?
What a pleasant way to round off the day... it would have been even nicer if we'd spoken, especially as I found out she'd seen me as well, and also didn't want to herself through mistaken identity.
Now for a spot of food... a little relaxing ironing and pleasant thoughts for tomorrow!

I hope you have a good day tomorrow MMF. It has been glorious here, not at all what was forecast though.
27 hours without food1 That's really not a good idea, and a real recipe for a migraine . Repeat after me " I must eat, I must eat!"
Enjoy tomorrow, hope the weather is

Webbie, I do repeat that, but I get carried away, like this evening writing the Journal...
I forgot to check my supper so burnt offerings for tea again. Now I know why it is called Stir Fry, and not Forget Fry.
I do get bored with food, though! 27 hours is not exceptional. I'd make a fantastic Agnostic Monk!
I love cooking , I'm just not into the eating thing!

Websailor;
Just happened to notice from your post, "...27 hours without food...". You're okay, aren't you? Mind you, I've done extended fasts myself occasionally for various reasons.

Yes, I bumped into a hootooer while searching for a CD with a certain track in Grimsby Library, for my father's funeral. The young man who served me was the_autist_formerly_known_as_flinch (he wrote the kidneys entry) I met him first when he was in Grimsby hospital (that was deliberate, he'd just had an op) although I didn't recognise him this time (he was well!) he recognised me but didn't mention who he was. Truth told, it could've been Prince William behind the desk and I wouldn't have noticed.
Looking forward to seeing you again in July, MMF

MMF,
You sound like me, and I got it from my Dad - if I am busy with something I like doing, I forget food (to PHM's annoyance!) and I have been known to forget to sleep too, watching badgers, reading books, and being on hoo too, though late nights on hoo too are not allowed !
You will have to have cold food now the better weather is coming, then it can't get burnt. I have forgotten the last time I had a hot I usually have to drink the second half cold
Invitation - you cook, I'll eat
Take care, enjoy tomorrow.

The best part is that it is the only occassion when the wild conservation area is open to the public ... It lasts an hour (the last one I went on lasted 90 minutes as I had so many questions!!! ) It is very interesting, and I'll be there again tomorrow...
And I'm the same re: I have never drunk a hot one! Once i start a job, I am loath to let it go because I know once I've lost the momentum it is very hard to get it back...
Anyway, I'll give you an update tomorrow!

about your glasses. At that price you really could expect them to do a good job.
Have a great time tomorrow.
