h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Thought I'd drop you a line and say welcome to H2G2. Not that I'm an official welcomer or anything (I'm bored at work too!).

What do you reckon so far?

I reckon this place is pretty cool - still finding my way round a bit though.

Just got to grips with the smileys -

I've only just got the hang of smileys too - there are some really nuts ones!

I've been on here a few months and I don't think I know my way properly yet - but then I don't think anyone cares .

I only access this in my spare 5 minutes at work - at the moment I'm just not very busy at all .

I know the exact same work feeling - roll on 1pm tomorrow

I finish at that time too, although I start work at 7.30am . And I have to start at that time all week, too (though I usually get to finish at 4pm!).

Oh I couldn't cope with 7.30am start - though it must be nice to finish at 1pm daily to catch the lovely sun at the moment.

I meant to write I only finish at 1pm Fridays - I wish I could finish at 1pm everyday!!!

7.30 isn't bad, at least it means the roads are nice and quiet on my way into work.

Do you finish at 1 everyday or just Fridays?

Unfortunately only Friday's - and even that's not guaranteed for every week.

Not fair - at least I know I get every Friday afternoon off! What do you do?

I'm an account manager for a credit reference agency - how about you?

I'm a project engineer at a car firm (well, Land Rover!). I'm working on body electronics at the moment. Things are the quietest they've been for some time here!

Ooh I wish my job was quiet - It's crazy busy today. Mind you only 2hrs till hometime - and a fab boozy night out lined up.

Sounds great! Usual Friday night stuff or proper party?

Most of my mates are on holiday so it looks like I'll be sat at home watching Corrie. Since splitting with the ex my social life has gone down.

It was quite a heavy weekend of drunken debauchery etc, but I've been paying for it ever since - been off sick for 4 days with flu.

Quiet weekend of Corrie for me this weekend too!

Oh, no - it's crap when that happens....hope you're feeling better now!

I've been trying to learn how to ride a bike, so I'm at the moment - not from falling off, just cos I keep bumping into things!

Hee Hee, my mum is 48 ans still can't ride a bike - good luck to you I say - I'm sure you'll get the hang of it.

maybe. My record on these things is very bad as I have little or no sense of balance of coordination! But it seems to be a way of makig sure I stay friends with my ex, as he's teaching me...

Well that sounds like a good idea - remaining friends with ex's is always good - I'm friends with a couple of my ex's and it makes life so much pleasanter.

It's good if you can do it. If you end on friendly terms its much easier, too! With this ex, we've got loads of mates in common, so staying friends is a good idea!

The trouble starts when people think you're still together/back together.....

Anyway, am planning on riding bikes this weekend . How about you?

Well I've got tomorrow of work - may just relax all day. Saturday - shopping and a house party in the evening. Then Sunday - wedding reception and Monday is family day.

Quite a packed one this weekend.
