Since I last spent any time on h2g2 a new love has come into my life
My 2012 Xmas self-present was a five year old who had been traumatised by the Chchch earthquakes and needed a quiet, secure, loving home.
She's what is known hereabouts as a Bitsa. Bitsa labrador, bitsa ridgeback, bitsa German shepherd, bitsa staffy.
She's a big sook, but has an impressively deep growly conversational voice, which is quite enough to scare off unwelcome visitors Her tail is like a whiplash on her friends. Tough love She loves eating just about anything, with her favourite food being apples fresh from the trees at the moment - with "interesting" results a few hours later
My greatest joy each day is getting home from work to a yodelling, waggy
She's changed my life and I suspect you will hear more

did not have butter on her No way; although she would love it I'm sure.
You can always scrape the kernels off the cob, Prof... that's how I eat them and I don't have butter either

and FB went to the vet yesterday afternoon. She had a cruciate ligament replacement at Xmas (left knee) and this was one of her regular post-operative check-ups.
Our dishy vet announced a "remarkable recovery so far" so and Fb floated home across the park on a wave of self-satifaction and delight.
She still limps a bit, particularly after a long walk, or as a result of hooning around the garden. When she bursts with energy in the evening it's impossible to slow her down, so she charges around the garden with her tail up, ears pricked looking as happy as a can look.
By the way, the post-op vet check ups are all free He says that the op was quite expensive enough and any after-care should be considered part of that bill. I've never come across that before and suspect it's not usual
