I spent three hours yesterday evening in the veg patch Digging, composting, feeding, planting, watering, slug-pelleting, admiring
Sowed: carrots, leeks, lettuce, borlotti beans
Planted (seedlings from friends and garden centre): cabbage, cauli, runners, pumpkin, courgettes, onions, peppers, tomatoes.
I am a happy Frenchbean again Whilst there are a few things missing from my ideal garden list (parsnips, beetroot, broadbeans, frenchbeans, cucumbers) it'll do just fine for year one.
Now I need a long warm summer so that all these late crops will have a chance to give me decent harvests.

Yay!!!!! There is nothing like a veg patch to brighten one's spirits. It sounds like you have a great variety of veggies planted.
How long is your growing season there?

Sounds lovely Frenchbean, and a nice change from your indoor activities.
Nigel gave me the last of his swedes on Saturday and I did them for the freezer yesterday. He grows some good stuff but at the moment the allotments are sodden and muddy, pretty much like my garden. I love home grown stuff. I wish we could still do our own as we used to years ago, but it is beyond both of us now. There is nothing quite like growing your own, harvesting and then cooking it, is there

Sounds great FB!
You've just reminded me, I have to water my parsley and basil.
I had them as indoor plants, but weren't doing very well. I've put them in the garden.
It's no wonder they weren't doing too well. They seemed to be potted in only vermiculite and polystyrene.

No soil? Poor things. They'll love the garden.
Reminds me I have no basil, no parsley, no rosemary, no coriander, no chives. Plenty of mint and sage though And as I'm having a tagine of mutton for Xmas, that will be just dandy.
