The Indy website has an article about voters in the US flocking to the polls and flooding a creaky system Surely not yet? In the US it's still Monday isn't it? Is this a case of a UK paper inventing the news, or are the polls really open in the States?
We have our very own election in NZ on Saturday, when the incumbent will be standing against the Liberals (aka Conservatives). Helen Clark has been PM for three terms, so the feeling is that she'll be ditched simply because of longevity. The fact that her track record is generally considered to be pretty good and that most people appear to like her, seem to have little bearing on the expected outcome
The alternative looks to me like a poor substitute. But I've only been here a couple of months, so I'm probably still very uninformed.
I think that the US election is going to be a lot more interesting...

Several states have early voting. Texas, for instance.
You've got to wonder why they don't just put the money they spend on staffing early voting stations into staffing voting stations on election day and make election day work right. NPR has set up a way for anyone who experiences voting irregularities to report said irregularities, and there are are already reports of people receiving recorded phone calls stating that Democrats can't vote until Wednesday http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=96536421
ing Republicans.

Good grief Surely that kind of misleading information is illegal?
I can't see New Zealanders getting that worked up about their vote somehow

It's absolutely illegal, and if they get found out they'll be banged up.
But that's just one way that Dubya used to 'win' the last two elections.

Fb, aren't the forces of evil in NZ the Nationals, rather than the Liberals? (The name's more honest, for a start; more indicative of crypto-fascism.)

Those robocalls have reached Missouri. Do I think the perpetrators will ever be caught and fined? Nope.

There seems to be an air of optimism around the world, which is lovely to be a part of. It may not last, but I'm enjoying it while I can
Well done America

Same here. Reserving judgement but hope springs eternal and it could have been so much worse, couldn't it?!
