I've been listening to R4 footage of the start of the US/Allied invasion of Iraq, five years ago.

What a waste of lives, money, energy. What lies. What destruction. What misplaced belief that force and violence can resolve differences in culture and belief.

I am beyond more words

I don't have the words either. None at all.

I joined the movement against it Frenchbean, and it seems we were not wrong. Politicians should read their history then perhaps they wouldn't be so arrogant as to think they can solve age old problems in a few months. They seem to think modern weaponry makes them superior to those who have lived the history, know the people and know the terrain.

Sadly arrogance is a trait of virtually all politicians Websailor: they have to have it in order to believe that they are important enough to make decisions on our behalf. I'm not sure that even the most diligent and understanding politician has much humility.

I can't bear to watch Dubya on telly any more - I flick the channel. It was the same with Thatcher and even Blair in his last year or two as PM. I hate the fact that they stand there in front of the World and ooze insincerity, yet expect us to believe them.
