"Collier whingers" = "mine strikers"
"Harlem Butcher" = boxer Tyrone Jackson, let's call him "Action" Jackson
"Large Phonic Bittern" = a shore bird sometimes called a "thunder pumper"
"Drive" =
Mine strikers steer Action Jackson's thunder pumper.
