My local paper still nominally has a comics page. But there aren't any really good comics in it. The daily comics page is now just 6 strips, Garfield, Blondie, Beetle Bailey, Hagar, Hi & Lois, and Peanuts. But the Sunday comics page is perplexing. They carry The Phantom and Funky Winkerbean. Why!? These are serialized comics with complicated story arcs that are developed mostly in the dailies. As Sunday only comics they nothing more than a series of non sequiturs. Oh, and of course they carry Family Circus. The unfunniest strip of all time.

Oh, yuck.

Comics were better in the olden days. Pogo...now, THAT was a comic. I didn't mind Calvin and Hobbes, either.

Bloom County has resumed on FaceBook; Berkeley Breathed felt he had to bring the crew back once Trump started running for president.

My memory has faded enough that I can reread C&H on that same website.
