It's Bridgwater Carnival time again! I always like to plug this event, as it's an astonishing spectacle, and completely unknown outside the area.

Now, I didn't find it quite as good as previous years. The weather had been pretty poor, although it looks as if the rain may have held off during the parade itself. There were quite a few tableau carts (where the participants have to strike a pose and remain still). I prefer the song and dance spectaculars, myself.

Fogg's World Tour sounds suspiciously like a version of Verne's "Around the world in 80 days, with or without the movie title song

Ah, but Verne didn't have Segways, and I doubt that Passepartout would be wiling to get towed through the Gulf Stream by a dolphin...among other things. But, yes, the image of Shirley Maclaine on an elephant *has* gone through my mind a few times lately.
