h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Well, today is my brother's birthday. He's turning... eight. Geez. Just the other day... Anyhoo, my sister's birthday was two days ago. She turned ... I should know this. That makes me sad. I think she's five now. And my older sister turned 27 on the 30th of March.

Cool story about that. We weren't talking. I don't have any idea why not. Every time we would see each other, I'd just get the cold shoulder and give up trying to talk. But for her birthday I tried to write her a poem, something I've been doing alot of lately. I tried and tried, but couldn't get past the fact that we weren't speaking. So I gave up, and suddenly got the inspiration I was searching for. Slammed out a sappy poem, and put it in her mailbox. Talked to my mom a couple days later, and apparently my sister, Laura, had called mom to get my address. She was moved by the poem and intended to write me a letter (poem?) so it looks like we are going to be speaking once again.

Mightier than the sword...

Anyway, my two younger siblings get a combined birthday tonight, so I'll be going to that. Laura will be there, so I'm hoping things go okay. I have been hanging out at a friends house for the last couple days, so I haven't seen if Laura finished her letter. Guess I'll find out. Hope so.

Anyway, here it is. But as I said, it's kinda sappy. ...whatever it takes...

I tried to write a birthday poem
to brighten up your day
But every time I started over
My thoughts just went astray

I just couldn't shake the thought
that we don't talk any more
even though we live so close
almost (but not quite) next door

I guess you're really busy
and I wish that I were, too
but even so, an occasional hello
is not that hard to do

You probably think it's my fault
while I go blaming you
but I don't care how it started
so long as it gets through

Okay, I'm not that great a poet
and I'm not so great a brother
but I suppose that's the price to pay
for never seeing each other

I hope you had a great B-day
and all your dreams came true
but for my birthday, my only wish
is to sit and talk with you

Sniff, "I'd like to thank the academy..." Like I said, though, if it gets us talking again, it was worth it.

Awwwwwwwww that is really really sweet. I'm not surprised it moved her. Hope the party was good and that you got to talk to your sister again

Party went okay. Had a great time playing with the younger ones. My older sister was there. We kinda said hi, but didn't really connect. I wish I cared more.
