Your friends who give you safe transportation when you've had to many. What have they done for you? What have you done for them? Why do we need them and how do we get them to do it? Let me know by posting below.

This is a very good entry indeed - informative, about a worthwhile subject, and with just the right touch of humour
I think this could go straight into Peer Review if that's what your long term plans for it are

I thought of putting it there but I was hopping to get some information from others. Maybe stories about their experiences with DD's and I thought it should go in the writing workshop because it was not done.

Nice Entry!
Once upon a time, the word for someone who didn't drink alcohol was 'teetotaller'. These days, it's 'designated driver'. Believe me, I know The following suggestions are all based on real events!
Offering to buy the drinks for a DD is a nice idea If you're taking a DD to a private party rather than a pub or other place with a bar (or if you're the organiser of such an event) it's always appreciated if there is a selection of non-alcoholic drinks for the DDs, rather than just a single carton of warm orange juice or half a bottle of supermarket economy-brand lemonade
And if you've arranged for someone to come and pick you up from a night out (rather than taking them with you), it's good manners not to keep them waiting around for *too* long, particularly if it's very late or they've had to come a long way to collect you! Bear in mind that they may not want to 'come in and have a drink first', particularly if it's been a long night and they're the only sober person in a room full of *very* drunk people
When being driven home at the end of an evening, do not attempt to change gear or pull the handbrake Also, do not wind down the window and shout offensive comments at passers-by (unless, of course, this is something that you and your driver habitually do when sober )
If you must throw up get out of the car first...
If you fall asleep in the car, don't snore *too* loudly
I hope some of that is useful

Thanks
This is great. I don't know how but I totally forgot about leaving the DD behind and having them pick you up. You would think I could remember that as my friends did that to me before I was "old enough" to drink in the bars. Also, good tips for the ride home. There is nothing more annoying than drunk people when you are not one of them. Did a 'teetotaler' serve the same purpose as a DD or were they just someone who did not drink?

A 'teetotaller' is simply defined as someone who doesn't drink alcohol. What this means is that it is often assumed that I (as a teetotaller) will be the designated driver for every event that ever happens.
Sorry for the confusion. I was trying (and failing) to be 'amusing'
