A Conversation for The Three Wise Men Myth

This is a point that has fascinated me. Christianity denounces astrology (probably rightly so), but yet reveres the event of the Star of Bethlehem - a case of astronomical events predicting earthly events, and therefore truly "astrological".
The Bible fails to mention the background of the three kings/wise men. They were from the East, and were not Jewish/Israelite. Some scholars speculate that they were Zoroastrians, but are not entirely certain if they weren't pagan/polytheistic.

They are usually called magi, which is the title of Persian priests, Persia being the home of the Zorastrian religion. What they were doing in a Christian myth I can't guess.
