I'd like to have the bottle and charisma to be Tom Bombadil (I would have cast Robin Williams in the role if they'd put that bit in the film).

Sorry to be obscure - Tom Bombadil is in the books but not in the film. He rescues the Hobbits from Old Grey Willow Man just outside the borders of the Shire and again in the BarrowDowns before they even reach Bree and meet Strider.

Thing is I have not been able to access the hobbit or the first lord of the rings book 
I have however managed to track down the second book and the third and have seen the 2 films I have also seen the Lord of the Rings exhibition in london with Uncomformity
