Yes, dmitri; it was on the Cumberland Plateau. (Haven't heard that term , WoNA, in common conversation in a while! ) The actual mill, unfortunately, is now very tiny debris scattered along a creek, unless there were some of the bits salvaged and stored in the old barn that the tornado blew away in the nineties! Those parts might be anywhere for counties around. I'm sure there are some salvaged boards in many local chicken coops and I've been told you can still find the millstone if you know where to look at the bottom of the cliff it floated over.
B'El, if you think it would make a good entry I certainly could try.(And thereby remove that annoying sign on my page pointing out that I've never written an entry.) I was thinking a guide entry needed to be on a general topic rather than one family's history. Can you think of an entry or two I might use as a model?

PS So long is Tennessee that it contains at least three distinct dialects of English. I used to work in "Meaphis" occasionally, and it always took me a few days to get acclimated to the speech. But no time at all to get acclimated to the climate. September through May the city is ideal in my book.

Give me a moment, hstrwrd. There are so many entries, it's difficult to find specific ones. One I liked is
A22808162 143 and the 'I Love You' Lighthouse, Minot's Ledge
then there is
A12220011 The World's Oldest Lightbulb
to name only two off the top of my head.

I did one on a house museum once: A4481769 Maybe it would be of some use.
You're right about the dialects. My mother was from the Miss'ippi Delta, we lived in Memphis, and my dad's folks were all in Middle Tennessee, White County.
We became bilingual.

Thanks both of you for the examples. I'll have to work a bit to come up to that standard, but will see what I can do.
Key: Complain about this post
