Having just seen this:
F615?thread=5513483
I wondered:
We have:
<./>search</.>
<./>RandomEntry</.>*
<./>RandomNormalEntry</.>
<./>RandomRecommendedEntry</.>
<./>RandomEditedEntry</.> aka IID
The Underguide Archives A2112490 (featured on the <./>FrontPage</.>
and the Post Archives: A660377 (currently being promoted in a brilliant Post article on the Front Page).
What else do we need?
* Clicking this brought me to Gnomon's Hull Meet Page, btw.

Those work for people in the know but I think Rev. Nick was suggesting a button, like the IID one, that would pick random entries from a larger part of the guide than just the edited guide.
I think it's a good idea: it would certainly help lend a little credibility to non-EG stuff, which doesn't seem to get taken too seriously at the moment (meaning everything from The Post to random entries people write when the mood takes them with no intention of submitting to the EG.)
Actually, I should probably post this in Nick's thread!

Well, the underguide archive link is plainly visible on the FP for everyone who cares to look, and as for the rest, there's either Search h2g2 at the Top of the page, (or even 'Advanced Search' - a link directly below the search box), so if you put in 'Drawer' for example, this is what you get:

Sho - employed again! Posted May 29, 2008
yes but search is rubbish
I think Nick was just talking about getting a totally random entry from something more than just the edited guide - just expanding it a bit.
To be honest... the guide is beginning to bore me a little

btw, Bel
where do you find all those links from your fist post? I've never seen most of them
*hangs head in shame*

Yes, it is there, but a button would lend some authority to the proceedings.
I know your initial post has nothing whatsoever to do with Rev Nick's suggestion, and I've already said what I think on the idea so will unsub from this thread.

I think either TRiG or TiT posted them soemwhere (probably EF), and my memory can be quite good, actually.

Don't worry, Roymondo, I don't intend to get into a sling match with you. I have to admit that such a button would be much better than the alleged 20 most popular conversations.

or in place of that, those links you posted...
that would be a good place to put them

Yes, it certainly would. We've recently gone a bit farther even and suggested the following:

The answer, however, was a definite 'NO!'

Frankly speaking? I think the front page is a mess, and I never manage to find The Post without clicking 42 links - so I very rarely read it.
In fact, I'm coming here less and less frequently, to be honest.

I've just looked at the FP in *shudder* goo *shudder*
The post blob is in the same position as it is in brunel, so not really hard to find, imo - if you find the FP in the goo skin in the first place, that is.

Failing that, you can become a regular writer for the Post, and a click on the Post badge this would earn you will bring you directly to the current Post Front Page.
