h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I bought a huge last week and had to find out that the log was too thick to fit in the tree-stand. Well, with hubby being a carpenter, there's quite a selection of different saws in the house - but the tree was obstinate to my attempts of sawing some timber off the log. Today, I had another go at it - this time, with a plane and a hammer - and they really did the trick. It took me two hours of hard work in the cold , but I finally managed to make the log fit. ( Where are my lumberjack friends from Canada once I need them ? )
Now my legs are still trembling from the effort, my back and my right arm , especially the wrist,are aching, whereas the knuckles of my left hand are swollen and show a nice blue colour - I'm not really skilled in the use of a hammer, or it's just a matter of a very poor eye- arm coordination.
I've now dragged the tree into the living room and tried to put it up - only to find out that I had to cut off the peak of the tree because it's too high, and that I can't get the tree fixed in the tree-stand without help.
The tree had its revenge for the rude treatment by dropping heaps of needles, so now I have to tidy the chips of wood on the balcony, and the needles in the living room, and I wonder if it's really worth all the effort.

Well done for half doing the tree B. Our tree is still in the garden! We're too scared to bring it inside I reckon though that this weekend will be the time I'm forced to decorate. You see I had this thing that decorating was for Christmas eve and then for the 12 days of Christmas...but no apparently I'm being too humbuggish.

Yeah a travel inn in Amsterdam.

Many people find that MSG gives them headaches...and hot flushes as well actually. Or makes them ueber hyper.

I only suffered from it a few times,and only when I had had some wine or beer, too, but I felt really very ill.

Ha - believe it or not, but my reading's way better than my writing of Dutch - comes from reading the ingredients and 'how to use' lists on nearly every goods I buy in Dutch/English/French and German, just to make sure that they contain the same things inevery language
