Hi,
You are listed as being a member of the following volunteer schemes:
Sub-Editor
ACE
Scout
The Post
Are you still an active member of those volunteer schemes? Please respond to this message, regarding which schemes you will continue, and which you have retired from.
Also, please ensure that the email address you have entered in your preferences is a current address.
On a related note, we are asking all volunteers to please read and consent to follow the new h2g2 Volunteer Code of Conduct A87765736 Just leave a comment in the 'I promise' thread, stating you've read and agree with the Code of Conduct. I see you have already made the committent - thank you! - so now I just ask for the other information...
That public promise will earn you updated badges on your Personal Space (once the last kink in code gets ironed out).
If we hear nothing from you by 31 August 2012, we will assume that you are no longer active, and you will be awarded a badge for retired volunteers.
Thank you.
Milla, for h2g2 Operations

Milla, I've resigned from sub-eds and scouts only yesterday, it is possible that Lanza hasn't got round to removing the badges yet (I haven't checked).
However, I'm not sure what that has got to do with h2g2 Operations 8whatever that is)?

I'm sorry to hear you have resigned. I hope you feel like coming back and volunteering some other time.
I'm doing the rounds of all volunteers old and current, to check who are really active, and who have left. If someone has left the active volunteering, we are going to replace 'active' badges with ex-volunteer badges. And I think that people care very much about their badges, so rather than just doing it, we give everyone a chance to come back to active, before we just award an ex-volunteer badge. And at the moment, there's about 140 people with active badges in the system groups...
This is just one more task that sort of falls between the chairs, system maintenance, sort of. And making sure that the active volunteers are aware of and commit to the Code of Conduct.
I hope that explains a little.
The Operations role is meant to support the volunteers, do things that help them, look at how we can make things easier. It is a bit vague, admittedly, but I hope to be useful.

And just to be annoyingly clear and make fewer mistakes, you are still and ACE and a Post volunteer, right?

Thanks for explaining, Milla. I read the operations team page but was nine the wiser.
I will come back if circumstances change for the better, but currently I have neither the time nor the energy and concentration needed to be a good scout/sub-ed. I don't need any 'ex' badges for those schemes, though.

Yes, Milla, I'm still in both those schemes.

You may not have a choice . Honestly, it's easier to treat everyone the same, but if you really wish not to have badges for previous volunteering, I can make a note of it...
I hope everything feels better soon.

Oh, and the Post Badge is for ever anyway. Everybody gets it who has written and sent five articles to which have then been published. You'd alienate hundreds of Post authors were you to give them an 'ex' Post reporter badge.

It's not looking good at present. my mother in law is very, very poorly.
Oh, and the above was to save you from having to write to everybody with a Post badge, as it is not a volunteer badge, but comparable to that for edited guide entries.

The post reporter is an achievement badge, that isn't going away.
But you are a volunteer doing work for the Post, are you not? - in addition to having been published in the post? We haven't a badge for Post volunteers yet, but it may come. So, two things, but related

Oh, OK. Don't really care about volunteer badges once I've left a scheme - they were always removed when you stopped, so that's fine. Am very proud of my achievement badges, though, so would be miffed were they to be altered or removed.
Btw, care to check out http://h2g2.com/dna/h2g2/brunel/U219983
There are no badges at all shown in brunel, and only two in pliny, that can't be right, surely?

Could you please log that as an error on the Pliny feed back page? I'll have to look at that in the morning...
Thanks.
