Hi Gemma, and welcome to h2g2.
I am not an ace, but I very much liked your first two posts, and came by to see who had made them. I hope you have fun here. H2G2 is full of some wonderful people, (and some total d**kheads, of course!) and I hope you will come to like it here.
If there is anything you want to ask, just reply in this thread.
Take care, and have fun.

I know what you mean. I have asked h2g2 all sorts of practical things, and emotional ones too, and always got good advice, and interesting and thought-provoking stuff too.
How did you find us?

it's weird, a few of my friends were (and one definitely still is) researchers when we were all in the sixth form a few years ago (scary to think it's been that long :D), but i wasn't online enough to make it worthwhile then. so when i came across an h2g2 link on another bbc webpage last week i remembered about it, read for a few days and then registered.
i really like the way people write and talk about anything, and all the random/mundane things i'm interested in, as well as the free advice unfortunately i'm now thoroughly addicted!
how about you?

It is odd to think that h2g2 can have been a peripheral part of someone's life for a while, like that.
I was working in Germany in 2000, and used a web-translation gadget called the 'babelfish' - there was an h2g2 link next to it and the rest, as they say, is mystery.
Take care, Gemma, and good luck!
