This is my most polished entry about the game "dwarf fortress" (there are 2) wich, I believe, meets all the requirements to enter the edited guide, althought I am not sure. The use of examples instead of what kind of features it has instead of the features thenselves sounds shallow, but the game is one of those that is better learnt on playing than reading manuals

As an important note the game is in active developement, so this entry may need updating rather soon, and a constant amount.

Hmmm - it reads rather like an advertisement to me...

Especially since it's not even in Beta yet - it looks like you're just trying to find people to test it for you

And althought it is Alpha it has a legion of fans, so advertisement isnt really necessary.

Toady is not my friend either, im just a fan of his work. I think you didnt understood: it IS and Ad, because the guide is meant to bring information about everthing, and games are part of everthing, it will have to bring information about games, and information about games is advertisement to then.

Oh, but DF does have legions of fans. if you dont believe search for it on google and read the reviews

And write about your comics, they are part of everthing. If they suck people will take care of adding that detail for you

A game that's not out of alpha isn't established enough to warrant its own edited guide entry, plain and simple.

Alpha games are included in "everthing".

I'm not going to argue with you. It's an advertisement and nothing more, so it won't make it into the Edited Guide.

Well if you know a manner of writing about games winhout advertising then in the process, share it with me and I will be glad to write another entry that sounds less like an Ad.

hi you might find it helpful to read some other games and computer entries, many can be found here. C800 have a read through a few and see if you can alter your article to a similar style to the ones already in the guide, you might be worth waiting until the game is a little further on in its develpopment before writing anything concrete about it as you dont want to have to keep updating it!

Game developement isnt really fast enough to require many updates, and at the moment the developer is focusing in some utopic goals in areas of the game other than I mentioned, so it will take a while until it really needs a update

Actually I agree with the OP that the fact that it's not out of alpha is not a serious problem for writing a guide entry about it. It really does have a genuinely enormous fan base and the game is very playable (if absurdly difficult) as it is. Gmail still claims it is "beta" so you have to take these labels with a pinch of salt.

OTOH this entry would need a lot of work to make it suitable for the guide.

I agree that it needs a lot of work, it is just that writing everthing about DF, even a rough everthing, is an epic task, especially because there are large undocumented areas of the game, so I think its quite hard and inviable to make an entry as it would be ideal to a guide like this. I will make a better attempt sometime in the future thought Unless this one ends up being considered good enough, that is.

Actually I think it's one of the most exciting and innovative computer games around. I just wish I had some time to devote to it. Last summer I put in maybe 10-15 hours and I feel like I only just scratched the surface.
