The Aussies are decidedly odd. I remember seeing a replica of the ship Batavia in one of their maritime museums at Sydney. I thought it was a quaint little ship, with a bit of a legend for bloodshed. Something this terrible ought to be treated with a little more circumspection.
Interestingly, I have heard one more story which is very similar in nature, 'The lord of the flies', but that is fiction.
