Today the new all singing all dancing Computor arrives
As is normal nowadays, (or so I'm told) it's been custom built according to Son Number 2's particular specifications, with lots of RAM and gigglebytes and all the other stuff that - apparently - is going to make this s PC to be envied thru out the civilised wesetern world , or at least, in Herne Bay.
Just as long as I have enough space for my poems and photoes to be stored on it and I have the ability to get into H2 and check my e mails I'll be quite happy. The lads can have the rest of it for their 'orrible music and Facebook Walls and all the other stuff that they can't seem to live without.
The three of us at home are all about as good as each other when it comes to Things Technical, so if I appear to have fallen off the earth for a while,
I'll still be around; it's just that we'll be hunting for technical things like plug sockets and on switches; not to mention trying to find that little silver disc that has the Dial Up Details on it....

Hi, Ev, good to know a new PC is in the offing for you. I hope all the technicals go for you. I know how stressful it can be. Come and tell us all about it when you are back with us.

This is a great gift from your son! I am happy for you as I feel that you enjoy the computer things very much.
My son gave me mine wich also he built but his intentions were two, first to make a gift, second to help him bring me "kicking and clawing into the 21st century'.
I told him I did not even want to be in the 20th century when I was there! You woukld be surprised to see my home dwelling and then to spot my computer in the corner.
I hope you get much pleasure from the gift of your son!

I must be psychic or something. What was the last thing I wrote? Something about a little silver disc to do with the dial up....
There was great amounts of whooping and excitement when the PC arrived, and it didn't take son no 2 and I very long to get the old one dismantled and the new one all plugged in. Everything had been already installed (the Windows Vista bit, the anti virus and all the other bits that take up time)
All we had to do was to re install the broardband connector.
What we didn't realise was that the dial up disc we had was only compatile with Windows XP
So I made a phone call to the IPS supplier and they said they'd send a compatible disc out to us "immediately"
That was last Friday.
It finally arrived yesterday lunch time.
It's been a very long week indeed.
I spent several merry and frustrating hours trying to install it myself, but you would not *believe* the number of options it covered... and they all looked right so I had great fun in attempting each one.
Finally Son No 2 arrived back from work, sat down at the PC for around 15 minutes and got us connected. I went to bed happy and secure in the knowledge I could resume playing on the PC this morning.
Which reminds me.... there's an awful lot of Back Log out there.
See yez later
