A BIG FINISH awaits!

According to the recent Doctor Who Magazine Gary Russell, chief producer of BIG FINISH productions has admitted that during 2005 that they will be accepting script submissions.

Since I know the majority here on this Journal-network are writers of a high calibre I was wondering if anyone was interested in sending out a script to them?

What do you think?

Will we see Messrs Pills and Menny co-writing an expansion into the audioverse?

Will Ecnal Silyab unleash Nibbles into the TARDIS?

Will anyone here be interested to submit an idea from their past archives to BIG FINISH?

Will the universe see our work and hear it?

I wouldn't let Nibbles near a car, let alone a TARDIS! smiley - biggrin

You should have seen the time he tried his hand at driving a Tube train - It must be the only time the route has included a stop off right next to Nelson's Column! smiley - winkeye

Co-Pilot: So what's it like at the flight stick to a being 767? We need a new pilot since the last one unexpectantly got sick and tired of flying planes and became a tube driver the day they had a major accident... Anyway I'm sure you'll fill the space grandly?

Nibbles: Eep!

Though seriously Ecnal, I've seen your work and I think as a script editor to Lance's vision I'm pretty sure you'd be perfect as a writer for Big Finish?

Ecnal replies:

When Lance Emailed me originally, about being his Script Editor, I was honoured. Of course, I said, I'll be only too happy to Edit your story! After all, Script Editing Crossroads was going nowhere anyway. Especially after it was cancelled. Again. smiley - winkeye

But the script he gave me was literally bulging with excess rubbish! Naturally, I trimmed it here and there. Out went the scene of the Doctor eating a red cabbage, and musing about why it's called a red cabbage when it is very clearly a purple one (something close to Lance's mind, so I gather). Out went the scene of Tompkins, the three dancing bears and the overeactive kipper. And of course the scene of the Sontaran battle warriors in the Red Light District had to go, on the grounds of good taste.

It's been the hardest Script Editting job of my life! Crossroads, come back! All is forgiven!

Lance replies:

Don't listen to Ecnal. He's a toad. Literally. smiley - biggrin

Come on Ecnal? Don't put yourself down, I'm sure that you and Lance can create a practical, original 4 parter for BIG FINISH? If I might ask.... What comes next from the writer of an underrated writer such as yourself?

Come on you can't do any worse than ...Ish or The Rapture?

What will it be?

An evil megalomaniac tranfers his mind into Nibbles in a bid to gain support from all aquatic mammals to attack humanity and thus be Master of the Earth.

With humanity reduced to living in streams and Water Voles living in cities can anyone stop Nibbles from flooding the Thames into London/

Can the Doctor force Sir Lance to stop Nibbles from...

The Otter Occupation of Earth!

Hello Count Tempus! smiley - winkeye

Seriously for a moment - I've posted a list of my various stories on the Time and Space board over on Mike's "Doctor Who Fiction" Guide Entry, under the title "Lance's Doctor Who Fiction". Just thought you might be interested to see some of what I used to do before you were about. smiley - smiley

I should warn you, it's a large list ... the stories date back a few years, when the boards first segrated into seperate entities and the T & S board came into being. Ah, those were the days ... before then, we didn't have yer fancy-shmancy "Curiouser" or "DVD" boards .. nooo, back in the day we had to go without all that. Used to have to post all our stuff on one board, we did ... (mumble mumble)

Good grief, you mean to say that you were at the beginning of the Boards- one might say that you were the very first to taste the nectar that once flowed smoothly that is now so rough and tasteless that is- The Boards!

Well smask me sideways with a rusty girder and tie me a train! I never would thought? But even with such a mass of stories under your belt that you had never progressed this talent further?

Never to become a full-fledged writer, to spread your wings and ascend into the golden light from above?

Is there any such story amongst your number that you are so proud of, that you would like to be seen or heard by millions around the world?

Without Nick Briggs doing his bit every second? Writing, acting{over}, directing and composing? But if you had control, would you then consider submitting a story?

Hmm?

Or even moreso, you could collect your greater stories, cement them into one large volume and put to a publisher and say aloud-I wrote this!
Would you?

Just a thought?

I did have an idea for a Big Finish audio and I may submit it at some point (if I can be bothered).

Talking of Big Finish, next time you see a Coca-Cola bottle/can with the "TXT 2 COLLECT" offer on it take a look at the chap with the headphones. I don't know why but the first time I saw it my mind immediately thought it looked like Nick Briggs. Is it just me?

Interesting. I would very much like to hear what you might submit- at least which Doctor would you write for?

I suppose you'd feature hmm.... the Valeshini? I'd really like to heard Robots of Groove though, as enjoyable a read it was it would be great to hear it!

I see what you mean about the man though, does look similar.

I hadn't actually planned for the Valeshini to appear. The concept would be that it would be set in a radio station and you'd hear the dialogue as if it were over the radio.

But the idea of doing The Robots of Groove is an intriguing one. Perhaps if we put Colin Baker in the place of Tom Baker then chances are it might just work! Though we'd have to think of something other than a hat to go to 1969 for.

The fob watch broken by Peri in Revelation springs to mind! He could say it was bought in 1869 but the TARDIS arrives in 1969 by accident?

Good idea! I was considering Peri as being the companion. She'd fit in quite nicely

Think nothing of it, of couurse you'd have to change the humanoid enemy in it but aside from that it should work out quite well.

Good luck with it!
