Patron Saint of Kittens... aka Pantherlady THE Werepanther of h2g2 and Queen of BBNs Started conversation Apr 10, 2005
Hello everyone. Im so sorry its been such a long time since I posted anything and maybe you thought I'd run away and maybe you didn't notice. But i am still here. A few months ago, one of my close friends died in a car accident and I've been dealing with the aftermath of that. Thus I got quite behind at uni and I've had alot of catch up to do and then added to that, my boyfriend has asked me to move to Canada with him following the end of our respective degrees because he wants to be a professional comic book artist out there maybe. So all in all its been a rough time, but Im still here.
So there we have it. Canada - is stressing me out alot because I know I'm likely to need a masters or two before I can do what i want to do, but im not sure I could go to canada and do them and also we couldn't afford it. My friend... RIP... but I'm starting to move on.
I'd love to know how everyone is atm. So please post back

Queen of the BBN's leaving the country? NOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Still, got to say that it must be tempting. Just make sure that you research everything, are completely confident of the relationship and that you have a contingency plan in mind if it does not pan out. (Sorry to say that bit but I know a few people who quit the UK with no fallback plan and they ended up very miserable)
Sorry to hear about your friend by the way, it must have been awful for you
Things with me? Well, discovered in January that I have been walking around on a broken leg for six months. Turns out that the artificial hip in my right leg is slowly sinking down in the femur, which means I am seriously listing to Starboard by the day. Think leaning Tower of Pisa and you have the idea. Looks like I will need a fifth hip replacement to sort it out, but hey ho - life goes on. Except for my disco days which I think are now far behind me. Probably a good job listening to some of the music today. Still, as we say here at work - "Musn't Grumble"
So - Queen of the BBN's - are you going to do a country wide farewell tour of the UK to say goodbye to your many admirers and friends?

Canada? Hey, that's where I come from.
So, you are seriously going to move there? Which city?
It's possible you could get a UK grant to study in Canada - what is it that you want to study there?
If things haven't changed you will get an immediate six-month visa to live in Canada. But it may be difficult to find work there, other than 'under the table' stuff.
But if you can find funding to study there then you will have a student visa which will allow you to be there legally for as long as your course lasts. Check into it - lots of universities offer courses that are seen as valid between countries.
You might want to ask Saturnine about this as she spent time in Canada doing a degree course in Vancouver. Not sure if she is around much on hootoo these days but her PS is U189219 . And her email addresses are posted on her PS - this might help.
Meanwhile, very sorry to hear about your friend.
Hope you are also feeling okay about the 'other stuff' too.
much love,
az

Thats just it. Xander hasn't decided about if he wants to go so til he decides I'm sitting n the fence not knowing what to do. I'd want to do a Masters or something, but the thing is I can't expect to not be able to work coz Xander is a Comic book artist and we'll be hard up enough as it is. Suppose I can't really think bout it any more til he decides. He knows where I stand on it. Where in Canada are you from?

It seems like such a big thing considering how long you've known him, you did meet him at university, right?

Yeah I did. Been around 5 months. Which given anyone else I'd be hollering at them that it was too soon too. But then I feel if there is even the remotest possibility of it happening, then I should consider it. And the way I feel about him thus far it totally could. meow. Maybe I'm being foolish, but I do love him.
