There is no identified cause and no Rx cure . . . only treatment. I don't believe it . . . I have never talked with an MS patient that has been tested for heavy metals. Some say that mercury is a leading contender for the cause, I think that this is possible but I think that mercury in combination with another heavy metal (like aluminium or a by-product) is more likely.
I welcome your opinion and input.

There is some evidence that low level, often undetected infection by a number of different bacteria (Cpn, Borrelia etc)can trigger relapses or progressive degeneration. A complicated Combined Antibiotic Protocol has shown some encouraging results. This is not an easy treatment, somewhat akin to the treatment Tuberculosis sufferers have to undergo, but patients who can put up with the rigours of the treatment and have to tenacity to stay with it have stopped the downward spiral and a fair proportion of them have achieved some permanent regain of lost functions.
