I am so out of touch with the blues world.

Don't worry too much about our Ken. I dont think you're missing much you wouldn't get from Stevie. It's a pity that since Stevie died every new blues talent that has been signed seems to be young white and toting a battered strat. There hasn't been that much innovation, and the music needs innovation to grow and survive.

Yeah, sequel syndrome. Something is good, make more of it. People buy the sequel on the basis of the first one, so the companies reckon that that was good as well, and make even more of it...

It's a pity Stevie is gone, I'm fed up with people trying to fill his shoes. Stop the production line I want to get off!

Then again, Iwant to be a cross between Buddy guy and BB so I wont critisise too harshly. But then again I only sound like me, unlike KWS

Fair enough Tm, but doesn't he get a little genuine credit for actually being the student of Stevie? Unlike others, who ,as you so correctly pointed out are just rip off merchants!
Mh
(Anyway KWS gets much "rockier" than Stevie ever did!)

Well you see I don't think you get credit for being the student, but not finding your own voice. I also feel that Kenny is forced into being rocky because he doesn't have a true blues feel. Don't get me wrong, I admire his ability, but it doesn't send the chils down my spine. It is much better to study the masters and build on what they give and become yourself, as Stevie did.

Eliteism eh?
Fair enough! but that means that you don't like most blues pre-1980 on the ground that most have that same sound? !2 bar rings true my friend!

(Am now listening to Keb Mo' s CD "The Door" it's OK)

Yeah it's true, there was only one lyric in blues for a long time, which was "I found my woman with another man." Later on there was a burst of ingenuity, as pioneering bluesmen discovered "And I lost my job".

There is a whole world of subtlety in the blues right back to the 1930's compare Robert Johnson with Blind Lemon Jefferson. Little Walter and Sonny Boy, or Eric Clapton and Peter Green. No 2 the same.
Kenny cannot seem to shed the pupil of SRV tag, I wont stop sounding like Clapton. I'm not saying I'm better just diffrent. And no I'm not elitist some Rock is great (currently I are mostly been laughing at the Darkness) but to parade KWS as a blues saviour, sorry no. It's not you doing the parading its the record company MH. Kenny is a Robin Trower esque crossover act, hopefully more people will discover the real thing through him.
Keb'Mo? An absolute hero!
Did you notice RK that they often do both at the crossroads?

You do have a point TM, i guess it's just one of those things, now that Stevie is gone, I find that KWS just brings a little of that to a newer audience, just to keep the sound. Spoken like a true mark I suppose eh?
I have also been going over my Dave matthews Band stuff, I have a soft spot for melodic folk accoustic guitar and sax of any kind.) Good studio albums, not so great live!

(Have you ever heard of James Morrison and his scream machine!)

Frequently so.
Have you been laughing at the Darkness, or listening to them? They have almost as much energy as the Sex Pistols!

James Morrison, no, what kind of stuff is it?
The darkness, both laughing and listening! Laughing at and with! The best deployed thumbs since Paul McCartney! I never thought that fun metal would be popular again!

TM:James Morrison is an Australian Trumpeteer, he is weel known through out the world in Jazz/ Funk circles. "Scream Machine" is an instrumental band he uses from time to time that consists of five trumpets (up front) and a rock band. they play up beat, Jazz/Blues/Funk/Rock and it just blows me away! I will try to locate a site to dowmnload some from for you! It is just awesome!

(This is new music in the same style, hence my bringing it up in the first place.......well duh!)

I like the spandex, open to the waist. I think they're largely based on Spinal Tap- especially the bassist. Have you seen his moustache?
I'll have a look for it, sounds good.
