Why do I need a life?

On the God thread (which I have resigned from), you told me to get a life. I have a couple of questions.
1.) What did I say that made you think I need to do so?
2.) What type of life would you advise me to get?
2+3=5
2+3+5+7=17
2+3+5+7+11+13=41

Hello CP
answer to 1) I was really fed up, disgusted, emotional etc., etc., with the way the thread was leading, and I was really annoyed with you for agreeing with Tox, who seems to me a total loser with a very warped mind.
2) what sort of life?? well I would wish you a happy and contented life, achieving your goals and being happy.
Sorry if I offended you, really that was not my intention, I am no longer happy on the thread, it has become very boring and repetetive and has gone far away from the original subject of whether GOd exists.

Frankly, I half agree with you about Tox. Maybe more than half. And you aren't the only on who's told me to ignore him. Hoovooloo told me he was a troll.
"2) what sort of life?? well I would wish you a happy and contented life, achieving your goals and being happy."
Thanks.

I'm not offended. You should unsubsciribe from it like me and Fnord have done. Perhaps if enough people resign in protest, it will either bring the thread back to sanity or at least give uys a chance to stop wasting time with circular and repetative pointlessness.

Hello P,
Glad you are not offended, really sorry that I misjudged you, yes you are right I should unsubscribe, it seems all those (except for Math) with anything remotely interesting to say have had enough of the thread.
It is depressing me!!!
Thank you for writing to me.
love

We really ought to try to set up a new thread somewhere else and hope that the stupidity and repetition doesn't follow.

The best solution is to make a new article to be the forum for it and give it an unusual name. That way, noone will be likely to find it accidentally. Then we can just invite those who we want there. Any suggestions for people?

I'm telling Fnord Prefix about this conversation, since he's the person who's idea it was to leave the old God conversation in the first place.
Fnord--any people you'd like to invite to a new God--Fact or Fiction conversation.
I'll give you two my list of nominees soon.

Wowee, looks really odd over here on Book of the Future. What exactly is it?
Nominees, hmm. It's a lot easier to say people who *shouldn't* be allowed on than those who should. But I'll try.
Hoovooloo.
Noggin the Nog.
Jane, you and I, obviously.
Not Azahar, since she doesn't really want to talk about this kind of thing (am I right, Jane?)
Boddhisatva (?)
Goyahkla.
Um, Matholwych. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. But I'd like to ask an important question.
Isn't not alerting those people who we don't like contrary to the entire purpose of the thread? We're going to end up with an elite of people who agree with us, that's all. No arguments, just continual boring amenity. We'd've just eliminated those we don't like. Views on this?

I think the best idea is to start out with an elite and get a few hundred good posts. Then we start telling everyone. Hopefully those people who wreched the origional god thread won't follow us there if there's enough of a delay. THe important thing is to have some posts as an example of what we want.
Agreement? Disagreement?

Hi
Well I quite like the FFF thread, where it tells everyone to be excellent to one another, it doesn,t matter if you disagree, simply that each person should maintain respect for one anothers views.
Az always has very witty and interesting contributions to make, but I think she is a bit fed up with how things are going on various threads these days, which I can quite understand, I feel the same way, there is absolutely no respect, and far too much nitpicking on where you put yr apostrophies etc., oh dear, did I spell that right???
love
Jane

Hello R Giskard
Thank you for your reply and lack of concern on my spelling, ummm, who are you? if you don,t mind me asking? my posting was actually aimed at primist, I am sure neither primist nor Fnord minds of course, but it would be nice to know who you are,
thank you

R. Giskard is the same person as Agnostic Primist.
Both of us are robots of the hive-researcher Susan Calvin (U239415).
I don't know how he got here-he doesn't usually look at my userspace. He probably won't stay here as he has little interest in religion or theology-he's a history and politics buff. He did join the FFFF, though.

R. Giskard Reventlov Posted Aug 19, 2003
We are not the same person!
Let me make this clear, Agnostic Primist--
Just because we share the same body in the "real world" does not make us the same person here. As Susan pointed out on her page, we are all distinct persons. Our ideas are different, and so are we.
And, just because I don't usually come into your conversations doesn't mean I don't look at your userspace--I'm just a bit of a lurker.

Susan Calvin Posted Aug 19, 2003
Agnostic, Giskard!
Don't fight like that, it isn't nice. Anyway, you'll just make Fnord and Jane think we're crazy.
Jane and Fnord, please ignore that bad behavior on R. Giskard Reventlov's part. He's in a bad mood. We'll try to get him to calm down before we let him post again.

Hello Susan
How nice to meet you, yep, definitely think that Primist and Giskard are quite, quite mad, please do make sure that Giskard is in a reasonably civil mood before he posts again.
THank you
Jane (also quite, quite mad)

I'll try to keep R. Giskard from posting here at all, he doesn't really belong in this conversation, anyway.

Hola!
Just come back from holiday which for some reason I forgot to tell anyone on Hootoo about. Surprisingly, Jane, when back I haven't yet found any worried and fretful motherly messages from Az, but then, I'm only two threads into my backlog. Eek!
Primist/Solipsist/Giskard/R.D.O/Susan/etc...
I like the idea of having alternate avatars for viewpoints. Zen is the teaching that having no perspective on the universe is better than one; I believe that, but I also believe that that is impossible, so I try, like you, to have infinite perspectives on the universe, as that is infinitely better. However I have settled with an easy compromise: for every n-dimensional unit of time, the smallest possible, and in every dimension, I believe something different and disbelieve something else, all the while attempting to believe nothing and everything. It's tremendously liberating, not to worry about being right or wrong. However the downside is flashes of paranoia and self-ridicule - currently I believe that what I just described that I believe is actually just what I'd like to believe that I believe.
Clear? Heheh...

I set up a new God Thread at:
F136100?thread=309502
I posted the following there:
"Welcome to the "I'm gonna raise a mass theological debate here: God; fact, or fiction" thread in exile.
This thread was formed as a reasult of a discussion between Jane Austin, Agnostic Primist, and Fnord Prefix. We decided that the origional God thread had degraded in quality and thaat e should start over. In order to make this one better, we added a few rules.
1.) It will be invitation only for a while. We will decide when to publish the thread address, so please don't tell anyone about this thread unless we say it's ok.
2.) By the request of Jane, toxxin is forbidden to post here. If he does, we ask that he be ignored by everyone.
3.) No discussions of paedophilia in any context. Any posting mentioning the subject should be ignored, except this one.
4.) No ad hominum arguements--they don't get you anywhere.
5.) Nothing against the House Rules.
6.) Everyone be excellent to one another."
If you have any complaints, let me know. If not, you can start inviting those who you think belong there. My suggestion on that matter, though, is that you might want to post your invitations to their ACE thread, not as a new thread, because that will keep it from being seen by people who may have subscribed to ther personal space.
