i got an email from a guy i've met once or twice in vatious clubs to say that his band were playing at the hobgoblin pub in holloway road last night. so me, darren, elmo(aka dark lord aka elmile aka christian aka anything else really)and scott went down. a night of rock/metal covers with free entry sounded good
. we got there and grabbed a drink. then the band came on. OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!! it was dire. the guitarists were ok, drummer adequate(sorry ian as it was him who invited me), but the singer. he could NOT hold a tune at all, even me, tone deaf me could have done better. we left early. very early and wandered down holloway road looking for another drinking establishment
. we spied a pub down a side turn, and i said we could try that one. as i said that, a girl walking past said that it was a very good pub. so we went there.
there were about another half dozen people in there(on a friday night), and we were dubious, however we stopped for a quick drink before going on our way. then elmo and scott found the pool table, then we found out the juke box(which was playing loads of ska and punk stuff)was FREE! i looked closer at the available music; ac/dc, pink floyd, meat loaf, gnr, my god, there was loads of good stuff. then at just gone 11, the door was locked. we staggered out at 2am. was a tad delicate today
.
i think we'll go back.

Happy days eh?
Now that my rugby club has got its own clubhouse and Karen who runs the bar is one of the players wives we have been enjoying and suffering many nights and mornings like yours. Except we'd have kept the ska on.
