Apparently it has.
Most offensive word I could find in that was 'fascist'. Well, other than the link with your name on, of course.

Yes well...
This is all my fault. All of it.
*points*
Look at that swirling pit of nothingness over there? The one that looks like purgatory but is more gaping and has less souls. Not hot enough to be hell. The one where I am doing far better on my PhD, and have published more papers, discovered more, and not had my boss shout at me on a regular basis.
That's life without h2g2 that is.

I looked into that void.
I didn't like it.
I thought 'hey lets do something'.
I'm not allowed to have any further ideas.

perview and all that....
I wish I had been a troll, they had a lot more fun 99% of the time than I did when "stuff was going down"
I'd also like to "like" or "recommend" or give a "green arrow"* to post 25 too
oh actually, how about one of those green/red arrow thingies, then we could really see who is in the majority about "offensive" posts.

I thought the blog post would be useful. Although lots of it does downplay the importance of community in generating traffic and referrals.
We wouldn't want people getting the wrong idea about the community being expendable and replaceable by the vagaries of search engine optimisation...

There's a key difference between the site in the OP and h2g2.
In the original site there was a blog with content created by the owner and a community that was initially created to discuss the content, and then took on a life of it's own. The majority of traffic and therefore income was people coming to look at the blog, not at the community. He was able to get rid of the community and still make money from people coming to look at the blog.
On h2g2 the majority of traffic is people coming to look at The Guide, which is written by the community.
