Secretly Not Here Any More

Since I got back to Sheffield, I've been pretty much hallbound (except for a late night essay session) and unable to attend lectures or seminars (yeah, honest!) so I've been occupying my time mainly with computer games.

Before I get into that, a mention of my trip to Rotherham on Monday night. Leeds were shyte, Blackwell hasn't got a clue, Gregan/Ricketts/Butler/Wright aren't worth the wages we pay them and every night I pray for Strachan to come save us, and the physio to go save Bakke, Crainey and Seth. Oh, and to show you what kind of people I live with, when I limped back to my halls, cold, tired, in massive amounts of pain and filled with hateful rage I found out my neighbours had created a massive "ROTHERHAM 1 - LEEDS 0" sign in three foot high letters spanning two floors.

But never mind that. What have I been playing this week?

HALO (X-Box)
With my friend Chris, there's been much Halo multiplayer action. We completed the co-op campaign with tactics consisting of him moving, shooting, killing at range and achieving goals, and me running into groups of enemies, smacking them with my gun, dying and respawning ad nauseum. However, I do show a great skill in driving the Warthog Humvee (essential to completing the game) which I nicknamed 'Susan'. I can't really recount most of the humour involved in the game, but there was an unwritten rule. All communication had to be delivered in a chinese accent ("Whai yu diiie?" "Come back lie now!"), and anytime a grenade was thrown, the word GRENADE had to be yelled loudly in an effort to annoy people in adjacent rooms.

CIVILIZATIONS III (PC)
I love the Persians, they so cool. I've won the game via diplomacy, space race and conquest since I 'acquired' it 4 months ago, but on long boring nights it turns hours into minutes. Although the music is crap. I suggest people get hold of a copy and try it. Especially if they want to fill a void in their life left by crack cocaine.

FOOTBALL MANAGER 2005 (PC)
The new Champ Manager. I love it. The media interaction's a great feature, and I love the 2d match screen (never played CM4). However for challenging fun, start the game unemployed. I'm currently 2nd in Scottish Division Two with Greenock Morton (the only team to give me a job), with my front two of Iain Diack and Peter Weatherson having scored 41 goals in 25 games (between them, obviously). At some point I'll manage Leeds, better than Blackwell.

Anyway, off to Edinburgh in 13 days to see Kat, Razorlight and the Manic Street Preachers, then it's back home for Christmas and New Year. 5th Ave Action. Oh yeah.

Keep on Trukkin'
Psyc smiley - cheers
