This one is specially for Az, who's a devoted cat worshipper. It has appeared in two versions on the limerick thread, but I like the pun so much (yes I know it's not original, it's the setting that pleases me) that I felt it deserved a spell in my journal, so there.
One day, being rather moronic,
I gave my dear cat a colonic -
(Its rectum was blocked!)
Sadly mog was quite shocked
By my cure, which made puss catatonic.

The execrable pun could conceivably be overlooked; might I humblissimo suggest the last line should go something more like
"Thus rendering my puss cat a tonic"
-- since render can hover between meaning "make" and "give" (as in rendering a service).

Harrrumph, R'man!
Anyone who could overlook such an execrable pun does not deserve the delicious pain it might inflict. I certainly would not consider for one moment, hubrissimmo, changing the last line to incorporate the awkward non-sequitur "Thus rendering.....". The previous line, after all is "Sadly mog was quite shocked..."which does not lend itself to your suggested replacement final line, sah!

Yes, a re-reading gave me the same affront. The third and fourth lines also need doctoring.
How about
One day being rather moronic
I gave my pet cat a colonic
I did mean the best
But it was so distressed
That I made my poor puss cat a tonic
Somehow I feel we're still not quite there.

Hmmm?
Meanwhile hie thee hence to the Limerick thread and savour my latest addition.
