Who Are You LIke

Try this fun questionnaire to find your place in the current complex world of political affiliations. Are you up there with Chairman Mao and Stalin, cozying up to Tony Blair, or smiling along with The Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela?

Lower and lefter than both Gandhi, Mandela and the Dalai Lama.
I suddenly feel all lunatic-fringy...

Well, Mal, if you're lower on the grid, and lefter than the DL and Gandhi, that makes you a hopelessly libertarian, amoral, no-good, Hippy Nerdo Mutt ( as I was once described by an unpleasant right-winger on the racism thread.) Congratulations, join the club of HNMs.
Cheers,

Turns out (big surprise. . .) that I am in Mandela/Dalai Lama territory.
Also, as you know Chai, I was also considered an HNM and had that as my tag for a long time. I just got tired of people asking me what that meant, especially after that thread had died, so I removed it.
But yes, very proudly a Hippie Nerdo Mutt!

Ah, yes, Chai, I know all too well the story of the lone group of HNMs. I could ne'er claim the title, of course, but deep in my heart, I've always felt like one...

Hmmm.... an odd one that.
I came out somewhere to the left of the Mahatma.
There again many of the questions they asked had little relevance to my political/philosophical ideals and I had to wing it.
The questions they devised were geared to place you in a 2-D spectrum of their devising. As with all 2-D views of the world it is both simplistic and humanocentric.
So there
Blessings,
Matholwch /|\.

I find myself tucked into the bottom-left corner, just to the right of Gandhi (around the letter i) which I'm proud to assent to.
But come on Math, "As with all 2-D views of the world it is both simplistic and humanocentric" -- what other kind of view would convey any usable meaning to us?

Glad you're all enjoying this game. Just in case you're wondering ( as most of us seem to end up in company with Mahatma G and the DL ) the son of a friend of mine did this test at school, and came out somewhere between Hitler and Attila the Hun. Just about right for a British football-fanatic-lager-lout. ( And before you all start screaming "racist" at me, you have to admit that the British football supporter has the worst reputation in the football world. )
Cheers,

You can't call the British, or the Irish for that matter, a race, they are both so mixed, so Brit- or Paddy-bashing is not racism. Just rotten behaviour.

Screaming "racist" does more to encourage racism than actual racism does.
I suspect it's just something about the kind of people who'd visit an online BBC debating site that makes us all Gandhis.

I had Roy do it and I was surprised that he was also in the left/libertarian quadrant too, not as far left or as libertarian as me, but not too far away. It surprised me, as he votes Conservative, so I thought he would be on the right. In a way, it was a comfort to see that we're not so far apart after all.

I suspect that right wing in England or other European countries isn't quite the same as right wing in other places.

Oops, I appear to be a hopelessly libertarian, amoral, no-good, Hippy Nerdo Mutt too.

"No broadcasting institution, however independent its content, should receive public funding"?
The alternative of course is having programmes totally dictated by sponsors who can fund or not fund according to their standpoint. They can kill off programmes which do not follow the party line - and business has a very definite agenda. Give me the BBC every time!

Yes hurrah for the BBC! An anomaly in the history of the world. How has it survived so long?

I certainly hope it will. Is it really unique? Aren't there any other public service broadcasters in the world who are as impartial as the Beeb? Funny word, impartial, when you consider that the government of the day almost always think the Beeb is against them.
