Irving Washington - Gone Writing Started conversation Nov 3, 1999
Hi! Bulebottle said that you might have some sort of input on a question I had about the basics of film making. See, I'm a writer, but I know close to nil about screenplays. I had an idea for a movie, but I'm having trouble fleshing it out because I don't know how much detail I should (or shouldn't) go into, I don't know whether I need to include shots and those basic vocabulary words that my highschool drama teacher taught me like "establishing shot" and such. I've always found dialouge tricky, and there's a strange squeaking noise coming from behind a poster on my room mate's side of the room. I don't know if that pertains to screenplays, but I thought I'd throw it in, just in case. Now that I've annoyed you, ta ta!

Though it doesn't seem to grab her attention, either...

That's because we've been busy this weekend. Give her a chance - she isn't an addict yet, so may not be here that much. But when she does appear, I'm sure she'll help.
I've just realised that someone else who may help you is Roasted Amoeba - there's a link to him on my page, too. He's a member of Wessex Films, and is trying to make a 15 minute short film about something.

Looks like once again I'm surrounded by film addicts... Oh well, I'd better get back to my epic poem...

"Arcadia" I believe. But Mr Washington, we have that one copywrited. A classic but not yet published.
Anyway, I'm eccles. Sorry I took so long in replying but I haven't been on the compys in a while.
As for your screenwriting tips you seem to know abit already, I'm doing a film course but the scriptwriting
that they teach here is shit, so I got my tips from books and journals. If you go down to your local library
and look in the script section I'm sure they'll have some scripts from movies which you could hire out.
What exact tips do you want? I could write pages on how to set out a screenplay.
