Ever since the latest MRIscan just before Easter I've had spitting The magnetic valve inserted into my skull went bonkers after being subjected to the strong magnetic fields generated by the MRI scanner. During the last month I've seen the neuro surgeons repeteadly and they've been fiddling with the magnetic valve in order to get it work again, since they're not keen drilling new holes in my head.
Anyway, now the thingamajig is back in order, and it seems as instead of having excess fluids in the central nervous system, I now have too little . While waiting for the neurologist to see me, I started to cut back on the fluid reducing pills I've been taking for the last decade in high, or very high, doses. Took away one in the morning, and got less .
However, some days ago I simply forgot to take the evening pills, and the next day I didn't wake up with , and it was à rather OK day. So now I skipped the evening pills, i.e. cut down 75% of the pills just like that.
Guess I just have to wait and see where this takes me. All previous attempts to get off those pills have failed.

The thought of being in an MRI scanner with a magnetic valve in your head sounds really scary!
It does sound as if you've got some good neurologists though, and am glad to hear about the solution to the head pain. I hope it keeps on working for you.

DQ I hope that you are completely successful in reducing on your fluid reducing pills and is wonderful news that you have stopping having headaches in the morning.
I hope that there won't be no more problems with your magnetic valve.

Careful if cutting back on pills to be alert for any relapse of the symptoms they're supposed to control.
Taking medication to control depression, it worked so well for so long and was so long after I discontinued the medication before a relapse came, I'd quite forgotten the relevance of the symptoms.

Thanks for your caring.
Got a letter with time for an appointment at Neurology in the end of May.
Even though I'm cutting down on one kind of meds, there are still plenty left. I've got so many different ones now I had to buy one of those pill organizers to be sure I don't forget anyone. Sometimes I feel a tad old...

Ditto.
Sometimes I think of flashing my pill organizer fully loaded with a week's supply just to intimidate people.
Always wonderful when one can get a reasonable reduction.

Although I don't have a pill sorter box, I have a system when I take any medication I put the box behind the one that I am going to take and dietary supplements but in a line in my medicine cabinet. It reminds me it is time to take a tablet which I will have with two mugs of water.
