The bastard child raping granduncle is finally six feet under, and thus there are a gazillion of things to sort out. Mum was suppose to handle all this, but as you might remember she died a year ago after being hit by a car. The last year has been a mess trying to sort things out for the old one who never made it on his own. Well, he was ninety so it was time for him to go anyway.
A neighbour arranged for a quick burial, claiming nobody would attend anyway. Probably she was right, and it saved me from arranging that anyway. We were not notified about his death until after burial, and now there is a need to go there and see what need to be done. There is a house inhabited since the late forties by a hoarding couple. Mum made attempts to clear out, but was not allowed. There are rumours about unpaid taxes and I don't know what. Well, that is to be found out and hopefully sorted out during the upcoming week.
I've spent a lot of time the last week and a half to arrange travel for me, my both 79 year old aunts and a cousin to to go to the other side of the pond. So far my arrangements has worked out smoothly and at this very moment we're over the Pond heading for the volcanic island where there will be a change of flights.
Tomorrow I must also get a 'merrcan mobile phone – or should I say “cell phone” and a dongle for mobile broadband. Had some trouble with the latter last year, hope it will be easier this time.

I wonder sometimes whether 'they'** think we are all babies or nuns who might faint with a few normal words appearing before our eyes.
I enjoyed reading your post/blog. I hope your trip is successful.

Read the blog post- good luck getting all that sorted.
Sorry your journal entry was removed- that's the way things work around here now, unless of course for certain people who for some reason can say whatever nasty filth they want and it someone legitimately yikses it, it's upheld anyway.

It's a constant source of amazement that the Mods object to statements of truth. We can't have the truth being bandied about, can we?
Anyway. Have a good trip...

very well said psychocandy! it does seems as if people can express any revolting viewpoint they wish without being struck down. Whereas other subjects get the immediate red flag treatment.

I remember being there with you in Granada when you got the call that the bastard child raping granduncle was almost dead. I remember leaving you to the phone call and waiting for you at that lovely spot at San Nicolas Mirador ... then you met me and we had a drink and enjoyed the view. And then you told me.
I had no words because I've also been there, and I waited to see if you wanted to share more words...but it seemed we were good just hanging out watching a spectacular view and feeling happy to be there.
Lots of love and snibbles as you make this journey.
You know where to find me.

ps - did you see the twitter kitteh pics I sent you yesterday?

After two trips to the "gadget and things store" I'm online. Plug and play? No way - 'merrcan logic...
I got the dongle, it installed on 3rd attempt and "you need to add megabytes"
Use credit card - yes. Non- USonian credit card - no.
Phone call to suuport. Cyborg voice greets and says "I'm... (etc) what's you account number? 4th attempt the cyborg understands me and after some more conversation he tells me "You're going to be directed to a human" well, not exactly but almost.
Finally I get through to a very polite lady who tells me I can't use my non- Usonian credit card, but kindly informs me where I can buy a pre-paid card. Back to store and buy a new piece of paper for $$ - using the credit card I couldn't use before...
Back to dusty old house, reconnect, and after a lot of cursing I'm online.
Got myself and cousin mobile phones and added minimum amount of money required. Gives us 400 minutes each for talking, but no texting... That was another plan...
Technology!
Otherwise there has been a lot of paper sorting and collecting of garbage her, there and ewverywhere today. No hot water in house. hopefully there will be someone tomorrow that can sort that out.
Well, that's all for now. The nice neighbours across the street have invited us to dinner.

Got kitteh piccie - thanks az
Contines the oddessey through 60 plus years of junk today. Hard core porn mixed with forty year old bank statements; staples - gazillions of them - frail rubber band that disintegrated into dust when touched; membership cards from 1964; unused holiday greeting cards from yesteryear; newer used bluejeans, two dollar bills... just name it, we've found it. Garbage day tomorrow and some twenty bags put out. Guess we'll have to order a dumpster.
Legal procedures started. Hopefully the house will be assesed during the week and put up for sale, and the car as well.
Don't leave this world like this. It's not kind to the ones left behind.

Never a truer word DQ. I see my parents sorting through their drawers and cupboards more and more often. I know why they are doing it, and it makes me sad to see, but also proud that they are thinking of their children having to fathom it all after they eventually step off the planet.

Poor . What a mess.
We used 3 roll-off bins (the really huge ones) to haul away the accumulated crap from Mr. Nerd's parents' place. Un-ing-believable. Plus numerous trips to the recycling center and the charity shops. A lot of things we gave directly to the homeless shelter.

Unfortunately there is less stuff to donate than anticipated. Some clothing and shoes are in a decent shape and can be used by somebody else.
Otherwise it's more like "junk'r'us"
...anr now there is HOT WATER! For the first time since Friday I feel like a human again - and hopefully smell like one again It was long since I enjoyed a shower as much as I just did.

At least temporarily... the water was just lukewarm when I showered earlier this evening. Guess we must call the repair guy tomorrow morning again.
The day has been filled with paper work. Bus schedules for 1964 anyone?
