A Conversation for Talking Point: A Good Read
Has everybody forgotten why we are here?

I feel a need to come out and ask everyone, "who is the man behind us being here?" The answer to that question is Douglas Adams. If anyone who posts on H2G2 is not familiar with his work (which would be slightly odd), I feel sorry for them. I have no doubt that Douglas Adams has touched each and every one of us. My hat (if I happened to be wearing one at the moment) is off too him. Of course, the fermented hops in my system are talking right now and he has clearly past from this earth; but, Ask yourselves "why do I post on or consult the Guide?" Douglas Adams had a way with words that I can't even begin to do justice by speaking of. I opened this post to allow those that could do him justice to write your thoughts on the man that brought us all together with his words.

Quite right - and if anyone reading this hasn't yet come across A550955, I can heartily recommend it!

most people here, but not all, would've read Douglas Adams' work. I for one haven't read any of his books.
So the reason why I post and read here has nothing to do with him

I have never read Douglas Adams books. And to be honest, it doesn't sound like the type of book that would really interest me.
Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not disputing the fact that he is a great writer, but people who have not read his book should not be judged as "sad".

You're right, people who haven't read DNAs books shouldn't be judged as sad.
On the other hand, and I'm not having a go at anyone specific here, people who just use h2g2 as a chat room or social club without actually contributing anything useful to the Guide can off...

I do contribute to the guide, although if you check my current name there are no guide entries due to the fact that I have had to change my account because of difficulties on h2g2.
I had wrote a few on my previous name. At the moment I am currently searching for a interesting topic to write about
