A Conversation for The Immortal Legends of British Professional Wrestling

My dim knowledge of sport recalls that the late Daveyboy Smith (AKA The British Bulldog in WWF) started out in British wrestling as part of a tag-team, but jumped to American Wrestling because (unsurprisingly) the money was better.
A Scout has recommended this entry, by the way, so here's the usual heads-up to ask if you've finished making changes, or if you need more time to complete this. Let me know either way

Davey Boy (felled by a lifetime of steroid and morphine abuse) tagged with Tom "Dynamite Kid" Billington as the British Bulldogs. The two trained in the infamous Hart Family Dungeon under Stu Hart (father of Bret and Owen) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
As for the amendments, it's fine and the scouts can recommed away.

No more changes to be made.

I understood the morphine addiction only came after a serious injury after a motor accident? I remember reading after he died that he'd been struggling with painkillers after the accident, at any rate.
No matter, that 'Accept' lever is flashing...

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Many wrestlers fall into the painkiller addiction thing after in ring injuries and as a result develop a dependency on the drugs, this often leads on to harder drugs as the painkillers become less effective and then the almost inevitable overdose.
Thanks for the acceptance.

I was really hoping that this would get the nod, nostalgia value in spades!

I recommended this entry. I don't really remember British Professional wrestling, but this entry gives me a flavour of what it was all about, and is well written and rather entertaining as well. Well done Nylarthotep!

Whereas WWF and the like seems to be mainly aimed at adolescent boys (though with general family appeal), British Wrestling of the type described here was (at least in my memory) watched by old ladies sitting in the front row shouting 'Kick 'im in the goolies!!' There was the same amount of accusations of match fixing as American wrestling suffers today, and of it being more staged than a sport, but in Britain the accusation held more weight as few of the wrestlers possessed the athletic physiques of their American counterparts.
Not that I'm saying they were out-of-shape lardy middle-aged men - no way would I say that about someone who could still put me in a headlock until I pass out - but it's fair to say that even the greatest of them were, perhaps, a little more mature and rotund than we might expect a lycra leotard to withhold.

It seems as though your physique didn't matter that much in British pro-wrestling, as long as you had upwards of twenty stones of it!

I did wonder how come your version has the whole text of the article as one unbroken paragraph?

The one large paragraph is caused by the fact that I'm in the middle on converting it to guideml so I haven't added any tags in yet. Be assured they will appear Real Soon Now(TM).

Have you a moment to sort the links out at the bottom of the article?
They're in a bit of a jumble.
Thanks.

I'm aware of this, and this will be fixed as soon as I've uploaded all the changes I've made on my paper copy of the article.
