h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

In order to make your h2g2 experience more pleasant, I offer the following:


Never, NEVER, ask to be notified about new conversations on the 'Ask the h2g2 Community' discussion then go on vacation for two weeks!

Do not enter into conversations with the rabid 16 year-olds who are taking over this website. Like most 16 yr-olds, they think they're brilliant and witty when in fact they are immature, boring, and incredibly uninformed. They are sooooooooo 16!

If you do become embroiled in such conversations expect to be treated with utter contempt. If you're lucky, they'll simply ignore you. The one thing they won't do is listen to anything remotely resembling reason. They're too smart for that.

Avoid submitting articles to Peer Review unless you want to be insulted. Avoid submitting them to AWW unless you want to be ignored.

Don't annoy the italics. It's not nice to annoy the italics. And very self-defeating.

Read every week. It has lots of great articles.

Learn how to use the preview button. And watch your spelling and typos.

Eat your vegetables and drink 8 glasses of water every day.

*leaves an air of mischief, or vague elfishness, or guess-all-you-want-you-won't-still-get-it behind*

I don't think there is a single point I disagree with there!

It should be on the front page for all newbies to read, absorb and follow.

Some threads I just have to glance at to know where they are going and that they aren't worth following
