Can you tell me how to start a new conversation in the Folders Arms. I apparently have to click on new conversation link that doesnt exist!

You might find that it says "Discuss this Entry"

but I think you will find it better to click on one of the rooms on the page, or on one of the conversations at the bottom of the page and just join in with the conversations

yep... it's definitely better to use the threads _already_ in use for the FoLDers Arms... as they have their own designated clickable frames on the bar's page... the idea being that like in a RL bar you go to the room you want to use and open the door... just jump in any thread already in use and click on the "reply" button at the end of the last message/post [don't worry if you're not really replying to that message...]... and just type away...
