Terry Pratchett
(Though I would prefer more Discworld stories to more of the Guide that wasn't by DNA)
I aslo think an amalgam of Richard Dawkins (Who is very nearly very funny) and Stephen Fry.
What do you think?

I think that Terry is the auther that most remindes me of DNA.

For Zarquon's sake don't let George Lucas near an editable copy of H2G2 or Zaphod will have two new CGI heads and Marvin will start to sound like a newly re-engineerd Ewok. Leave well enough alone and don't cheapen the original I say.

I can't actually criticize their choice of Eoin Colfer, since I haven't read any of his books myself. But from what I've read about them, they seem a completely different tone than the Hitchhikers books. When I broke this news to my wife and daughter (who have read some of the Artimus Fowl books)they weren't to keen on the choice either.
I wondered who would be a good choice to write a new Hitchhiker's book and my wife suggested Stephen Fry, also. I think he would make a good choice, except that I think i read once that he also enjoys "the sound of deadlines".

I don't think it's a good idea to take Terry Pratchett...
I'm a huge Pterry-Fan, he's my absolute favourite Author, BUT if he writes the 6th Hitchhiker, it would be just like another "Pratchett/Discworld" book because he is so smiliar.
Richard Dawkins is a good idea, i never thought about that.
Stephen Fry would definitly be my first choice, but I also like Eoin Colfer.
I couldn't really imagine him writing the next Hitchhiker until i saw him life last week in Stuttgart (Germany). It was a little preformance he made for the german release of "The Time Paradox" and he talked a lot about his childhood and his life and I thought: "Wow, he is awesome. Maybe he is capable of writing a 6th Hitchhiker..."He is truly a master of good story lines and he's got a good sense of humor. It wouldn't be like DNA wirting a 6th part, but I think it's worth a try.
Just my two pence.
