Been catching up on my Asimov and . . .

I thought I'd check out Wiki***** to get straight in my head the old guy's reconciliation of the Foundation universe and the Robot Universe and I find out the old boy's cause of death was covered up for years and years.
Like Bruce Chatwin's cause of death, Asimov's cause of death was hidden because people in general are stupid, bigoted, insensitive, unfeeling (okay, that's redundant, but the Pusser's is starting to kick in) bum-holes.
Right. Chatwin died because he contracted the HIV virus in his travels and escapades.
So?
The boy was a brilliant writer, a brilliant liar, and was once a brilliant art appraiser. Who cares how he caught the hopped-up Common Cold that killed him?
And off to the Russian. Biochemist. Perhaps the most prolific writer of the twentieth century. Published in every Dewey Decimal section except one. Jovial fellow. Who cares how he caught the hopped-up Common Cold that killed him?
I mourn the loss of both and I swear that if I die of the complications of HIV-AIDS, whether contracted from god-knows-what events in Dahomey or from a oh-so-prosaic blood transfusion during a bypass operation, I won't hide it. I won't cover it up. If the world is so bloody stupid as to make a virus overshadow the achievements of a human being, than humanity needs to do a hell of a lot of growing up.
Now I'm going to go and have one more Pusser's with Bruce and Isaac.

hey, Tal, long time no see. There are a few threads you should drop in on after a few s and some blood pressure medicine. If you can't find them on your list, look on mine (and Slapjack's).
