It seems that our dear warner is a fan of the Taliban: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbreligion/F2213236?thread=6384128&skip=0&show=20 Just when you think you couldn't have more contempt for the guy, he goes and proves you wrong. What a delightful chap he is.

Uh huh.

I'd bumped into another christian on this site (he and this one are acquainted) who demonstrated some disturbing views in support of capital punishment and against advocacy for prisoners' rights. And both of them proudly advocate child abuse (which I'll admit is particularly upsetting for me).

What's really scary is that unlike their screechier counterparts, these two guys are calm and unemotional when they express these attitudes, and when asked to justify them. Makes my skin crawl.

Edward the Bonobo - Gone.

Actually...I'm afraid he has a reasonable point. I'm sure he supports the Taleban's philosophy more than I do - but it's quite correct to say that they are not synonymous with al-Q.

It is also reasonable to say that the solution for Afghanistan will not be found by waging an ideological war, but by improving economic conditions in the region.

One of the big problems is Pakistan. For years, their politicians have had their heads up their arses playing power games rather than addressing their peoples' welfare issues. The Taleban and various tribal groupings have stepped into this vacuum.

However...there are some other issues, which I'll e-mail you both about later.
