I was cycling to work through Riverside Park as normal this morning when I saw a couple of female dogwalkers approaching shouting 'Don't go that way!'

I assumed that a tree branch had come down, blocking the path and so swerved off the path to go round the other side of the trees, only to see a man's body hanging, neck in a noose. Not something you want or expect to see first thing, and not an image I've been able to get out of my head so far today - I've felt quite shaken up all day.

My heart goes out to the friends and family.

Oh, lord, BB. I'm sorry - that you saw that, that the poor man did that, and for everyone involved.

Take extra good care of yourself. You've had a shock.

I once saw what I thought was a guy hanging from a motorway bridge - I drove directly under. There were blue flashing lights on the road above and police officers clearly running towards it. I didn't swerve but it gave me a huge shock. I've told myself since that it wasn't real and must have been a prank.

I've overdosed on more than is healthy so far today and had planned a couple of fun-filled days ahead, so hopefully I'll be too busy to think of it for the next day or two.

Sorry to hear about this bad shock to the system. The best bet mate (as personal experience confirmed several times) that it will pass with time and a few late nights, go to bed with a decent nightcap.

And keep busy as you planned.

I had a very busy weekend, so that kept my mind off things.

Back at work today and that part Riverside Park is now being taken over by a fun fair.

Good for you recovering your calm it will take time, see the doctor if you think you ought to. No report on the IOW news websites.

Unless the person in question was murdered or died as part of a murder/suicide thing after killing someone else, I very much doubt it will be reported. It isn't really news but a sad episode. There's nothing to gain by broadcasting to the world that someone died tragically except making a difficult time much, much harder for the friends and family involved.

I e-mailed the police on the day to say what I'd seen (which wasn't much) and got an e-mail back informing me that it had been forwarded on to the officer looking after the case, and I suspect that is it, I won't hear more.
