Hi <BB<
I'm subbing Q. The new version is A87969550 - please subscribe!
Great image - looks particularly excellent in Brunel
Just one question: "series ran sporadically between 1969 and 1980/1982" - this says the series ran to 1982 because 'There's a Lot of it About' was unofficially considered part of Q, but then in the Q section 'There's a Lot of it About' is not usually considered part of Q - does this mean something like: you consider it to be part of Q, but it is not on your DVD because the BBC don't consider it to be part of Q?

Thanks for taking this on – glad you like the picture
The only person who really has the authority to say whether or not 'There's A Lot of It About' is part of Q, whether it is an evolution out of Q or replacement for Q, is of course Spike Milligan. Who, characteristically, has said it both is and isn't. As far as I can tell – and this is based on reading short snippets of interviews done at various times, so I wouldn't consider it reliably accurate - at the time of broadcast, Spike considered it to be separate and not the way he would have done things at all. As time changed his position appears to have mellowed and he appears more likely to be considering it a continuation of Q in a different direction rather than an abrupt stop and start of an entirely new series.
His autobiography strongly suggests he considered it part of Q (or at least he did at the time he was writing his autobiography), but whoever markets BBC DVDs these days definitely doesn't consider it to be…
