Got room for a Surf Shop?
Rossi Started conversation Mar 31, 2000
Hey Bluebottle,
since you seem to be the guy running the beach around here, I thought I'd ask you if I can open up my surf shop there.
I'm new here and there isn't much in my shop yet, but it's coming...

I may be a newbie at h2g2 but I'm an old expert at communicating. Isn't that really what this is all about?

Yes, we've got room for a surf shop - feel welcome to build one!
So, can I ask you a little about yourself?

Yes, I'm back - on a snail-pace computer, but back...
...And I feel guilty 'cos I owe you an Peta award speech...
Sorry for not doing it - I'll get on it as soon as this PC decides it wants to do something.

Okay, I'll get on it. It's not that I don't want to do it, more I haven't been able to. But I'll see if I can sort it out ASAP.

Sure, I'd be glad to tell you about myself... I'm an american living in Germany and have been online for several years. This place is one of the most novel sites I've seen in a while and I really would like to become part of it. (Is that the sort of information you're looking for?)
Ps: I NEVER wear a swim suit!

All of which is excellent qualifuications for a Surf Shop - though I fear that your stock may be a little reduced if you aren't selling swimming costumes

I don't know. Boards, wax, sunglasses, sun screen, towels (v. important, just in case anyone misplaces theirs), beach hats. There is quite a range really.

And sand... Someone has to sell the sand, and those wonderful Alum Bay sand pictures - they're great.
Oh, and the little paper flags of Wales and the Union Jack that you put in the top of the castles you've built.
Oh, and no beach is complete without a plastic cricket set, frisbee, beach balls, rubber-rings, lilos, inflatable dolphins, boats, and super-soakers.

and plastic boules, bucket and spades, those plastic windmills. Postcards of the local scenery, my sandcastles the pool, the doughnut stall, and a big No Entry sign across a shark.

Not to mention pirated CDs from local guitar players, Sun cream with SPF Factor 45 (because if you aren't wearing a suit, you can burn baby...)
I like the idea for a no entry sign across the shark! Also a no cell phone sign on each surfboard??

The Postcards are a story in themselves, from the dirty Picture-Postcards with Carry-on humour to black pictures saying "The Isle of Wight at Night" etc....
The best postcards, though, have to be the Rupert Besley ones. He is the greatest artist the world has ever known - and by far the funniest cartoonist.
